A word about our dance studio

Studio de danse Imperium is composed of passionate teachers and a management team striving together to provide a place where dancers can thrive, grow and be part of a supportive dance family with whom they will create amazing and lasting memories of their time at the Studio.

Studio de danse Imperium is a welcoming and open-minded dance studio where dancers have the opportunity to learn from talented teachers and choreographers and explore different styles of dance. It’s a place where beginner, intermediate, advanced, competitive as well as semi-pro dancers are all equally welcome. This wonderful adventure started in July 2013 and has been evolving and rapidly growing ever since.

Our history

2013

In 2013, on a sunny spring day, in a small coffee shop in the West Island of Montreal, Christine and Véronique made a decision that would change their lives and the lives of many dancers: They would partner up to create a truly welcoming and motivating dance studio where children, teenagers and adults alike would feel free to be themselves in the wonderful world of dance!

A few months later, their dream became a reality when Studio de danse Imperium opened its doors. The success of its first season, with 75 dancers training in 3 different locations in the West Island, showed the co-founders just how much potential their project truly had.

2014

In May of 2014, they then secured a lease at 1430 Hymus Boulevard where they built 4 spacious dance studios as well as a warm and welcoming waiting room for the dancers and their families. Little did they know at that moment that they were creating their favourite place in the whole world!

2018

In 2018, a wonderful collaboration was created with Jonathan-Wilson Elementary School as well as École Secondaire Des Sources and John Rennie High School in the form of a Dance-Concentration program under the Sport-Études umbrella. With this program, Studio de danse Imperium is able to welcome students from these schools in its studios every weekday afternoon, from 1 to 4 p.m.

2020

In 2020, Studio de danse Imperium’s popularity lead to its expansion at 1440 Hymus Boulevard with the creation of two additional dance studios.

2022

On April 4th, 2022, Studio de danse Imperium’s directors and founders, Christine Langston and Véronique Sévigny-Leclerc, announced their partnership with Sonia Clarke, a teacher at the studio as well as the proud founder of the National Dance School of Canada (ÉNDC). This 3 year professional education program for young adults is offered during the day in Imperium’s facilities.

2023

On July 1, 2023, Studio de danse Imperium celebrates its 10th anniversary, with 750 dancers registered for the 2022-2023 season and nearly 3,500 spectators for the year-end shows!

Awards

Studio de danse Imperium is proud of the many awards received at different competitions over the years, such as Studio of the year in 2017 and 2018, and Production of the year in 2019 at 5678 Showtime in Mont-Tremblant and chosen to present many numbers in final showcases at various competitions (among others, Showcase winner of the Reprezent competition in 2018 and Hit the Floor Showcase finalists in 2022). The owners, Christine and Véronique, were awarded the Dance Studio Owners Association’s CEO of the Year award in 2020 in Las Vegas. In 2021, Lia Campo received the Fun Teacher Award from the Réseau d’Enseignement de la Danse du Québec for her excellent work during the pandemic. In 2023, the Studio was awarded the prestigious Consumer Choice Award – Best Dance Studio – on the Island of Montreal.

Our team

Since day one, the Studio de danse Imperium team’s mission is to offer all dancers the best possible training, in every style, for every level, in a positive and warm learning environment. The team continues creating unforgettable memories with many special activities throughout each season. Dancers and teachers call Studio de danse Imperium their second home and together they form the Imperium family!

Studio de danse Imperium is completely handicap accessible, with 6 dance studios equipped with sprung floors, a large waiting room with couches, tables and chairs, Wifi, and a small kitchen area.
